David Seymour est né à Varsovie en 1911, dans une famille d'imprimeurs. Sous le pseudonyme Chim, il entame sa carrière de photographe en freelance. A partir de 1934, ses images paraissent régulièrement dans Paris Soir et Regards, l'un des premiers magazines illustrés. A travers l'agence Alliance, Chim rencontre Cartier-Bresson et Robert Capa, il devient l'un des membres fondateurs de Magnum....
