These annual Awards are open to artists who work with the medium of photography. Applicants must be resident in the UK and have graduated from a visual arts degree course in the UK between January 2004 and September 2007. There is no age limit. Five winners will each receive an award of £2,500, an exhibition at Jerwood Space in London, and publication in Portfolio Magazine. The Jerwood Charitable Foundation is dedicated to excellence and to supporting talented artists with the difficult step into professional life. Having made the commitment to training as an artist, the period immediately after art college can be extremely difficult. The selection will take place in September 2007 and the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Jerwood Space in London, on 8 November 2007. The 2007 Selectors are: Martin Barnes Curator, Photographs Victoria & Albert Museum, London Gloria Chalmers Editor, Portfolio Magazine Gayle Chong Kwan Visual Artist John Davies Photographer/Artist Anne McNeill Director, Impressions Gallery, Bradford Step 1 Registration • Complete the attached registration form and send it with a registration fee of £20 made payable to Portfolio. • All applicants will receive a year’s subscription to Portfolio Magazine. • The deadline for registration is 13 August 2007. Step 2 Submission • Having registered, you will be sent an entry form and acknowledgement of your registration fee. • Artists must submit a minimum of six and a maximum of ten unmounted photographic or inkjet prints which do not exceed size 40 x 30 cm (16 x 12 inches), and which were completed since January 2004. Any other visual material, such as slides, transparencies, discs or CDs will be ineligible. • Professional commissions are not eligible. • Submissions must be accompanied by a single page of A4, containing a short CV and artist’s statement about the series of photographic prints submitted. • Send your photographic prints, entry form, CV/artist’s statement, and sufficient return postage, to Portfolio, 43 Candlemaker Row, Edinburgh EH1 2QB, to arrive no later than 31 August 2007. |
